About Us

Coastal Colors is a full service, family run, custom painting company, owned by Michael and Julie Chilton. Michael originally trained and qualified at the London Institute of City & Guilds in England where he served a full apprenticeship in the craft of interior and exterior painting and decorating.

Since that time, Michael has built up 25 years "hands on" experience delivering comprehensive services to a multitude of homeowners, building companies, architects and designers, originally in London and now in San Diego County. He is an expert in all aspects of residential and commercial paintwork and wall covering installation. Some of his most notable contracts include the country mansions of The British Deputy Prime Minister and Chancellor of the Exchequer (see testimonials). Coastal Colors handles all size projects from single rooms to entire estates and commercial buildings.

Michael moved his thriving business to San Diego several years ago where he now leads his crew of professionals. His wife Julie assists with company operations, color consultations and is very much involved in client liaison throughout all projects. Coastal Colors is a family team operation, offering personal attention to each client. Either Michael or Julie will always be available to discuss your work in progress throughout all projects.
